World-famous jewelry producer Cartier House responded to smoking patented in 1867 its first gas lighter for cigarettes.

Cartier lighters were expensive (made from gold and silver) and elegant just like all the products of the outstanding house. However, only 100 years later Cartier produced its branded oval lighter, which became the symbol of the company.

The authorship to this lighter belonged to Robert Hock, the head of one big international company, which produced lighters. It was Hock, who offered the license to produce new lighters, the success of which surpassed all expectations.

Robert Hock not only gave up traditional square or rectangular form of lighter, but also he modernized its mechanism: it closed by special clapper. With this Cartier House stood by its jewelry traditions, producing lighters only from precious materials – gold and silver with elegant lacquered, platinum, gold or silver cover.

Being the thing of luxury, Cartier Lighter was notable for its convenience and universality: this expansive stuff was for daily use, its style was modern and satisfied people’s tastes. Cartier Lighter – is the symbol of its owner’s status.

Nowadays the lighters are produced by one Swiss factory belonged to the company. The size of the famous oval lighters is as usual 7 cm. (there are also mini lighters – 5.9 cm, which fits the woman’s palm). Cartier also produces table lighters. By the way, Cartier lighters may be refueled only with its branded gas.
